Next-generation antioxidant for polyolefins: AddWorks™ LXR 548

Traditional phenolic antioxidants have long protected polypropylene medical devices during manufacturing and use. However, increasing regulatory pressure addresses concerns that these compounds can decompose during sterilization, potentially migrating from plastics into sensitive applications, raising safety questions for sensitive medical applications.

Clariant's new AddWorks LXR 548 is a breakthrough phenol-free antioxidant that matches the performance of traditional phenolic systems. Specifically developed for sensitive medical, hygiene, pharmaceutical and sterilization-resistant applications, this innovative stabilizer effectively reduces yellowing in polyolefin parts, maintaining excellent color stability even after gamma radiation and thermal treatment. With superior processing stability, excellent thermal protection, and compliance with stringent regulatory requirements, AddWorks LXR 548 enables manufacturers of syringes, medical bottles, non-woven materials, and other sensitive polyolefin articles to meet both aesthetic and performance standards.

    Hostanox P-EPQ pills is a highly efficient phosphorus based secondary antioxidant, which reduces the thermo-oxidative degradation of polymers and the development of undesired colour (yellowing) during processing.   • Hostanox™ OSP 1
    Hostanox OSP 1 is a high efficient antioxidant and metal deactivator which prevents the auto-catalytic decomposition of polyolefins. The usage of metal deactivators is mandatory as long as the polyolefin based finished article comes into contact with transition metals, such as Cu, Fe, Ni, Ti, etc.

  • AddWorks™ LXR 548
    AddWorks LXR 548 is a phenol free additive system for polypropylene processing stabilization. It is meant to be used when phenolic antioxidants are not desired and/or causing adverse effects such as yellowing. AddWorks LXR 548 is also highly efficient in polyolefins applications where resistance to sterilization processes is required, with excellent color stability.

    AddWorks LXR 568 MP is a highly efficient phosphorous based processing stabilizer solution, which reduces the thermo-oxidative degradation of polymers and the development of undesired color (yellowing).   • AddWorks™ PKG 906 Circle
    AddWorks PKG 906 Circle is a Clariant proprietary polymer stabilizer composition used to increase plastic waste recycling in polyolefin film manufacturing. It is particularly well suited for BOPP production, while also applicable to cast and blown film process. It allows to use increased amounts of recycled resin or film during the film manufacturing process without loss of film quality or production efficiency.
