Clariant to support Green & Sustainable Chemistry by establishing the Franz Effenberger Postdoctoral Fellowship

Muttenz, November 2, 2020 – Clariant, a focused and innovative specialty chemical company, today announced the establishment of the Franz Effenberger Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers. Reflecting the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and acknowledgement of the importance of research, the Fellowship program is exclusively focused on enabling outstanding international researchers to conduct their research in the field of Green & Sustainable Chemistry at a European academic research institute.

The Fellowship program will be established to mark the 90th birthday of Professor Franz Effenberger and celebrate his highly distinguished academic career in organic chemistry and various adjacent disciplines as well as his accomplishment in translating fundamental research into industrial applications.

The objective of the Fellowship program is to support outstanding international postdoctoral researchers in the field of green & sustainable chemistry who conduct research at universities or academic institutes in Europe. It will award four postdoctoral fellowships per annum and endow each with EUR 30,000. 

The program will be jointly coordinated by the German Chemical Society (GDCh) and Clariant, and high-level jury with members from the academic community and Clariant will select the recipients. More information about the Fellowship program, its terms and conditions as well as the application process can be found on the GDCh website
