WAFI Case Study

Due to the more challenging European legislation increasing the content of renewable energy, refiners are in the need for better additive solutions for these more complex diesel/biofuel blends. In order to meet a biodiesel quota of B10 one customer wanted to produce a B7 diesel/FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) blend with additional 3% of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO). With a specially designed WAFI-product Clariant was able to meet a challenging CFPP (Cold Filter Plugging Point) specification of -22°C in this difficult to treat blend, ensuring good operability throughout the winter period.
