Additive Solutions for Wood Coatings

Safe, sustainable, and durable solutions for interior and exterior wood coatings. As a very versatile material, wood is used to build everything from apartment blocks to high-rises and public buildings like sports stadiums, but also floors, kitchens, and furniture. Our diverse range of additives for wood coatings extends from light stabilizers and flame retardants to waxes. We will present our additive solutions and products for wood coatings. Join our webinar!

Agenda

Light Stabilizers: Our innovative technology can contribute in offering sustainable light stabilizer solutions for waterborne wood coatings. In particular, Our sustainable light stabilizer solutions with innovative technology for waterborne wood coatings can provide safer and easier handling for coatings producers, while bringing a significant improvement in terms of UV protection for exterior coatings.

Flame Retardants: Wood cannot be used in public buildings without appropriate fire protection. In addition to fire protection the coatings also need to fulfill the desire of architects and building owners for the beautiful and natural appearance of wood. Clariant has developed Exolit® 855 to meet these twofold requirements: The fire retardant for transparent intumescent wood coatings is a completely transparent, virtually colorless solution offering excellent fire and scratch resistance for all types of wood.

Waxes: Micronized additives are widely used in the coatings industry for modification of surfaces. Mainly commercial available synthetic waxes play an important role for different kind of variations. Scratch resistance, reduction of slip properties, matting effects and much more are properties which can be influenced by the addition of these additives. Recently the industry is changing and is looking for more sustainable additives which can provide similar or even improved results. There are some micronized additives based on renewables which can even provide performance benefits compared to standard waxes.
