Sustainability Performance Functionality

Clariant aims to turn heads at the first in-person ECS in four years with its approach to simplifying the complexities of formulating coatings that fulfill the sustainability, performance and functional demands.

Collaborate on environmental challenges using additives such as 100% bio-based VITA surfactants and poleytheleneglycols, bringing low-carbon support without compromising results. Or an innovative halogen-free flame retardant that extends the fire protection time of intumescent coatings.

Discover sustainable alternatives to replace substances of concern. For abrasion- or rub-resistant, future-proof coatings and printing inks, Clariant’s PTFE-free solutions even feature a bio-based wax blend with proven success in replacing PE/PTFE additives. Plus, we’ll unveil how sealant durability enhancer AddWorks IBC 760 offers a novel opportunity to boost coatings’ performance too and address more stringent segment regulations.

Visitors can access more help for finding the right wetting and dispersing agent, fast. On the heels of additive selection tool ClariCoat, get ready for another new web app simplifying our customers’ formulation activities.

  • Bio-based and segregated surfactants
Vita surfactants can help save up to 85% of CO₂ emissions compared to their fossil counterparts.
  • Universal dispersing agent
The Universal dispersing agent assures formulators with high performance pigment preparations. Dispersogen Flex 100 is sustainable and 100 % active solution.
  • Exolit® AP – Fire protection coatings
Our non-halogenated Exolit® AP flame retardants for the building & construction and protective & marine sector take intumescent fire safety to a new level. They enable an extended shelf life of intumescent systems, allow them to be applied in challenging conditions, and even boost their ability to save lives by enabling a faster response and longer resistance to fires compared to intumescent coatings based on standard APPs
  • Exolit® AP 418 (TP)
Halogen-free Exolit® AP 418 (TP), especially designed for solvent-based intumescent coatings, offers longer fire resistance time (FRT) compared to conventional solutions by exhibiting an earlier on-set temperature. Therefore, a lower dry film thickness (DFT) for achieving the desired FRT is required compared to standard formulations. In addition, the protection of combustible and heat sensitive substrates is improved. Clariant’s well-known ammonium polyphosphate offers the consistent quality to produce and offer a stable intumescent coating. Exolit AP® 418 (TP) is a free flowing white powder with low solubility in water. Additionally, it is completely insoluble in organic solvents. The product is non-hygroscopic and non-flammable.
  • Shaping the future of printing with safer and more sustainable inks
Traditionally, additive PTFE/wax blends have been used to create strong rub resistance effects in printing inks. But rising concerns about their sustainability profiles and regulatory restrictions are increasing the need for PTFE-free alternatives.
  • Ceridust® 3030 TP
Micronized additive made from metallocene based high density polyethylene wax. Ceridust 3030 TP is suitable for all kinds of printing inks and is especially recommended for pasty or solvent based systems. It creates excellent rub resistance and slip effect while keeping a high gloss level. The narrow and fine particles can furthermore prevent pilling on rubber blankets. It is furthermore an excellent additive for liquid coatings and especially recommended for solvent based systems or UV curing formulations. Used in liquid coatings like e.g. for packaging applications, Ceridust 3030 TP creates excellent scratch resistance, slip effect and protection of the finished good.
  • Hostavin® 3315 DISP
Hostavin 3315 DISP is a 52% aqueous dispersion of a benzotriazole UV absorber, designed for UV stabilization of paints and clearcoats. This sustainable UV absorber is characterized by its broad compatibility, high resistance to migration and low extraction, making it particularly suitable for wood and plastics coatings. Hostavin 3315 DISP has been awarded with an EcoTain label resulting from its excellent toxicological profile.
  • Paint formulation web application – ClariCoat
ClariCoat, Clariant’s new digital platform, provides customized paint additive recommendation based on real lab test results
